Also known as leather kelp or common kelp, Ecklonia radiata, can be found in the Canary Islands, the Cape Verde Islands, Madagascar, Mauritania, Senegal, South Africa, Oman, southern Australia, Lord Howe Island, and New Zealand. It was spotted at Houghton bay, Wellington NZ.
