Thank you, Dane. So if I understand correctly, Eastern Red Cedar is a type of Juniper?
When Junipers get this big in the wild, the bottom branches tend to have no new growth, hence the lack of nice red near the leaves.
Secondly the Eastern White Cedar doesn't have berries, and there bark goes completely white at this age.
Also in your first picture of the spotting , the 'leaves' appeared to be flat like a Cedar, but at closer look there more round.
I recall seeing berries, as I was slightly reminded of juniper when I looked at the leaves (is that what you would call them?).
did it have berries left on it (Eastern Red Cedar), or cones (Eastern White Cedar?
