ASIAN PARADISE FLYCATCHER - ORANGE MORPH

Description:

Almost the size of the Red Vented Bulbul. Resident of Sri Lanka. During breading season its tail become extended as the picture shows.Female has a shorter tail and non breading season the male do not have a longer tail. Very active bird in the early and later part of the day flying here and there catching flies by uttering chreep chreep call. occasionally it utters a beautiful melodious whistle with high frequency. Second picture was take during the non breeding plumage with a shorter tail. The female also has the same specifications when it comes plumage. Female never will have a longer tail as the male.

Habitat:

Love to live in dense areas where there are less sunlight (That is where the flies are). nest is a small cup plastered with his saliva. usually he built his nest on fork of a thin falling branch close to a stream or water way. He never miss the evening bath and love to see him bathing.. What i have observed is that he birds are more attached to the juveniles feeding them regularly.
