Unknown Spotting ( Moth )

Description:

Moth: I went into the garage at 9:30 a.m. in the morning, and I saw a small moth, resting on the garage floor. This moth is alive, but it moves slowly. This moth, was one fourth of an inch long, and five sixteenth of an inch wide. It had a head, thorax, and an abdomen. It had two, compound eyes, and two, feathery antennae. It had four wings, and six jointed legs. It's head, thorax, abdomen, legs, and it's four wings, was different shades of reddish brown. It's two antennae, was a tan color. There was a whitish tan line, going horizontally across the middle of the two, top wings. Going about three fourths, across the top wings. Phylum: Arthropoda Class: Insecta Order: Lepidoptera Moths, comprise a group of insects, related to butterflies, belonging to the Order: Lepidoptera. Most species of moths, are nocturnal, but there are also crepuscular and diurnal species. Adult moths and butterflies, all have large wings, that are covered with tiny scales. Butterflies, hold there wings up and down over there backs, while moths usually hold them folded down flat. Moth antennae, are thin all the way to the end, or have lots of side branches, that look like feathers. Moths and butterflies, have complete metamorphosis. Moths use chemical senses more, to find each other in the dark. Some male moths, can smell a single female, from kilometers away. Adult moths, mostly drink nectar or sap. They sometimes feed on mud to get minerals, or on animal dung, to get protein, that they need.

Habitat:

Moths and butterflies, usually stay close to the food plants, used by there young. However, there are so many kinds of moths, and they eat so many kinds of plants and plant parts, that different species, can be found in almost all land habitats. Moth and butterfly caterpillars, are usually found on or near there food. The adults are usually near by. Moths are found all around the world. Butterflies and moths, live and breed in diverse habitats, including: salt marshes, mangroves, sand dunes, lowland forests, wetlands, grasslands and mountain zones. Moths live in a variety of different habitats. Moths are highly adaptable to there surroundings, and can be found in habitats all over the world, except the polar regions.
