Description:

Still trying to figure out if this is a) a living creature (nymph of something), b) a scrap of plant material or c) something else!
I was photographing dragonflies at the time, see pic 3.
Compare the size to the tandem red-veined dragonflies in pic 3.

Habitat:

Canal between industrial estate and agricultural land.

Ummm.. Wow. Hmm. Almost looks like a dead black fish that has had chunks eaten out of it...? Maybe?
