Description:

Looking similar to the Scaup and Tufted duck. Males have dark head, breast, back and tail. White to grey flanks with what someone described as a whale-tail of white on sides of chest. Red eyes, blue grey bill with white ring near the end of bill and outline at the face. Head shape s crested towards the back.

Habitat:

Winter ponds, lakes and coastline.

Notes:

Spotted these swimming with Mallards in the reed sheltered lake
