Red-tailed Hawk

Buteo jamaicensis

Description:

Large raptor, with soaring flight.

Habitat:

Sonoran Desert (Arizona). This one was soaring very early in the morning above Camelback Mountain in Scottsdale, AZ.

Notes:

The photographs are not good, but I'm hoping that one of the bird experts may be able to identify the bird.

Agree with Dana - dark patagial markings are a dead-ringer for RTHA.
