Jackson's Slender Caesar

Description:

Bright red emergent looks somewhat like a red egg or tomato. The cap turns orange except at the center as the mushroom ages. When it starts to decompose it has a foul smell.

Habitat:

Deciduous forest

Notes:

Also sometimes called American Caesar, because of its similarity to the European Amanita caesarea.
