Thanks chesterbperry and NatralList for steering me in the right direction. Rather than Solanum incanum, I'm thinking it might be Solanum Eleagnifolium http://www.sbs.utexas.edu/bio406d/images..., but after digging a little I see there are several Solanum species common in Texas. So I might need to wait until the spring to better identify the leaves and flowers.

Also consider Carolina Horsenettle; Solanum carolinense.

Likely a Solanum
