rainbow scarab

genus phanaeous

Notes:

I found this beetle walking across our back porch and of course there are a few dog hairs on him, we have three Australian shepherds. I took a few pictures on the ground then put him on a table and tried to get the hairs off of him and when I did his neck flared up. He is really cool looking.

Thanks Keith! I think Phanaeus pyrois would be a match - http://darwin.bangor.ac.uk/beetles/Descr....

Based on the shape of the horn and the pronotum, I'd think Rainbow Scarab. I couldn't find any Central American matches.
