Metellina spider

Metellina sp.

Description:

Metellina is a genus of tetragnathid spiders that occurs mostly in Eurasia. In Greece occur 3 species, Metellina mengei, Metellina segmentata and Metellina merianae. Metellina mengei and Metellina segmentata are widely distributed and very similar to each other, so the two can only be discerned by comparing genital features. In the case of the pictured Metellina sp. female that was impossible, so she was listed here by the name of her genus. Spotted in the edges of the deciduous forest, Pelion mountain, Greece.
