Common Tailorbird

Orthotomus sutorius

Description:

This very vocal Tailorbird has been behaving very strangely for days, then yesterday I realised why it was upset, it was seeing it's reflection in the chrome on the car bumper. Wiki - The song is a loud cheeup-cheeup-cheeup. The disyllabic calls are repeated often ..... we've moved the car. Tailorbirds get their name from the way their nest is constructed. The edges of a large leaf are pierced and sewn together with plant fibre or spider silk to make a cradle in which the actual nest is built. Would love to find a nest
