Description:

This brightly coloured iris species, distributed in Europe as well as in Israel, was the inspiration for the French royalty symbol, fleur-de-lys. This flower appeared on Joan of Arc's banner. It grows near water, with its roots being completely submerged and receiving oxygen from the water.
