This beautiful violet flower is present in the eastern part of Israel from the mountains in the North to the desert in the South. The plant is one of the 4 species of the Ixiolirion genus, which was formerly classified with Amaryllidaceae but now is consedered the only genus of a separate family, Ixioliriaceae
