Description:

Measures 43 - 50 cm long with span between 75 and 111 cm. Their weight ranges from 235-353 g. Shows wide variation in plumage gray color according to the subspecies analyzed, existing copies with color ranging from dark gray to light gray. The tail is black with two broad white stripes. Long legs with intense orange color that are species characteristics. The head and beak are relatively small and slender.

Habitat:

It can be found throughout Brazil. It can occur in any kind of habitat. In the specific case, this picture was taken in a forest near a flooding area in the northern Pantanal of Brazil.
