Yes. They can come in a variety of colors. It gets more complicated again in areas where the Bird-voiced Treefrog (Hyla avivoca) may also occur - south of where you saw these frogs. One way to differentiate between the gray treefrogs and the Bird-voiced treefrog is to look inside the back leg; the gray treefrogs have bright yellow/orange color inside the thighs; the bird-voiced doesn't have the bright coloration.
Interesting. I had spotted a grey colored one before and noticed the similar markings but didn't realize the variety of color within the species. The two spotting a were barely 100 yards apart.
Nice frog! In this location, it could be either Cope's Gray Treefrog or the Eastern Gray Treefrog; Hyla chrysoscelis/Hyla versicolor. These treefrogs look identical; they can be differentiated by call (but it's past breeding season) or by DNA studies.
