Hasta hace unos años su población en el sur de CR había bajado mucho. Había que ir a la Península de Osa a verlas, sin embargo en estos últimos años las hemos visto regresar gracias a varios programas de conservación.

Gracias a todos!
Las lapas rojas de este grupo se encontraban alimentándose en unos árboles de almendras. Contamos 11 individuos lo cual no es inusual ya que se reportan bandadas de hasta 50 aves. Realmente le agradezco a todas las personas y organizaciones en mi país que han logrado que esta y otras especies estén prosperando nuevamente.

Yes! they are beautiful birds and seeing them flying free is a privilege indeed. Gilma come down to the south! In Golfito, Puerto Jimenez, Jaco you can find them.
