The prey looks like a stink bug.
This is not a dragonfly nor a katydid. Young dragonflies are wingless aquatic nymphs. This is rather a Robber Fly of some sort.

Nice photo, Diana, but this is not a dragonfly, but a robber fly (family Asilidae).
