Nile Monitor

Varanus niloticus

Description:

Big monitor lizard, around 1m long. Colouration difficult to make out, but seems to fit the usual Nile pattern, dark grey to olivey green body, with light cream to yellow lines and spots. Large claws. Tail long and tapered. The head on this one does seem a bit stout, but everything else seems to point to Nile monitor.

Habitat:

Seen in open woodland, not near water.
