Bald Eagle

Haliaeetus leucocephalus

Description:

The bald eagle gets its name from having a white head compared to a dark brown body. This bird also has a yellow beak, feet and eyes. (irises) Males and females tend to look the same although they vary in size, the females are 25% bigger than the males.

Habitat:

Bald Eagles live in wetlands whether that be seacoasts, (like the one seen in this picture) rivers, lakes, or marshes. (basically anywhere with open water and lots of fish) They tend to like wetlands on the larger end of the spectrum for breeding purposes.
