Grey Heron

Ardea cinerea

Description:

Since a few days a group of eight to ten herons gather in the late afternoonon a field with grass cover just on my doorstep. Because my cats are hunting in the same field and bring their prey back home, I know what the herons hunt. There are common voles (Microtus arvalis), the fattest that I've ever seen.

Notes:

At the same place there are also Withe Herons, Common Buzzards (Buteo buteo) and Common kestrels (Falco tinnunculus) at the same time.
