Nile Monitor

Varanus niloticus

Description:

Long monitor, about 1.2meters long including tail, quite dark colouring, black to olive green, contrasting markings quite yellow. Long claws, long forked tongue, large ear spots, black eyes, tail as long as the body.

Habitat:

Seen in inland pond in and out of the water.

Notes:

I thought at first this might be an ornate, but I believe it is the 'common' nile.... sigh.
