White Headed Capuchin

Cebus capucinus

Description:

It's been a long time coming to put these guys on my list of spotted animals. These little guys are white headed capuchins, the current residents of Ralph Mitchell Zoo's famous monkey island. You might know of a famous monkey that used to reside on the island, Miss Able, the first primate in space. Originally the island held Rhesus monkeys (which Able was) and then later spider monkeys.

Habitat:

These guys are native to most of South America. These are captive, held at the Ralph Mitchell Zoo here in Independence as part of the Monkey Island enclosure, which is our most popular exhibit.
