Xanthium orientale
Cockleburs are short-day plants, meaning they only initiate flowering when the days are getting shorter in the late summer and fall, typically from July to October in the Northern Hemisphere. Xanthium orientale is a commonly found species, toxic to animals, but the bees are using it as a foraging plant. It was spotted in Tzoumerka mountains, Epirus region, Greece.
