Elliptical leaves, 30 cm long, and 11 cm wide. Crenate/ entire leaf margins. Netted pinnate venation. Opposite leaf arrangement. Papery leaf texture. Rough, light grooves on the bark. Buttresses roots. Small, white flowers that hang upside down. Light green fruit, with white underside.
Tropical Rainforest.
The cacao tree is from the Malvaceae family. It is native to the deep tropical areas of America and its seeds are used to make cocoa powder and chocolate.
