atlas moth

attacus atlas

Description:

Around 8 inches from side wingtips.

Habitat:

From a santol tree

Notes:

As a child in the 1950s, I used to see this kind of moth, locally called "Mariposa." It was usually on a santol tree. I was pleased to see it again. It was resting on a santol tree in my garden, and then flitted to a singapore jasmine tree, (kamuning.)
