Dog Vomit Slime Mold

Fuligo septica

Description:

irregular shaped, foaming, spreading, creeping, yellow bile color with black and tan mold that covered about about 60 cm wide square and at its thickest maybe 30 mm

Habitat:

pile of woodchip mulch after rain

Notes:

also called "Scrambled Egg Slime;" caused some breathing problems with one child shoveling woodchips; feasts on decaying organic materials and the microbes that inhabit them so they have an incredibly important role in breaking down the tough materials living things are made of and returning those nutrients to the soil.
