Spotting

Hello, Ben, and welcome to Project Noah. That's a wonderful specimen you've found there, and an excellent first spotting. I've entered an ID suggestion for you, and other members can agree, or make another suggestion. I'm also confident the tree your spotting is on is a Northern Grey Ironbark (Eucalyptus siderophloia), a favourite tree of Horsehoof Fungus. If you take a look at your third photo, can you see that dark sap? That's called "kino", and it permeates the bark which help the tree survive fires, like an insulation layer. Anyway. I hope that helps. By all means do your own research if you;re wanting to confirm my ID suggestion, and once you're satisfied, you can then update your spotting with common and scientific names.
