Description:

The chital's coat is pinkish fawn, marked with white spots, and its underparts are also white.

Habitat:

Forested area, 3000 m in the Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary in the foothills of the Nilgiris mountain range, Tamil Nadu.

Notes:

Western Ghats of India is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the eight "hottest hotspots" of biological diversity in the world.
