Description:

Small orange-ish newt.

Habitat:

Found in pool of water, no more than 1.5 ft deep at most, that was part of a small creek.

Notes:

Found in Winterwren Creek on a small trail in the Santa Cruz mountains.

By the image it's hard to tell in being underwater. This might help.

This might be a California Newt, Taricha torosa. Also salamanders are amphibians and belong in that category instead of other :)
