Haliaeetus leucocephalus
We are very lucky to have Bald Eagles here by the hundreds (if not thousands) here during the winter. They congregate by the locks and dams where the water is open and we have ample opportunity to photograph them.

Thank you Christy and Glen!
Such a majestic bird. Great shots!
Great series!! Lucky indeed!!! ;-)
Thank you!
You certainly have some fine spottings!
I see. I am new here and have been birding for many years so I have thousands of pictures. I will be more careful to separate them to specific locations in the future.
Well technically yes, more or less. But that's not bad, that's good. It provides more data and you get more spottings! A spotting is an observation of an animal (or other organism) at a time and place. It is not simply the same species, because of these other things that should be recorded too. Here is what is said on the FAQs: "The most important piece of information is where you found it. Make sure you record, as precisely as you can, the exact location where you found the organism." (An exception is for rare/threatened species whose location should be made general). http://www.projectnoah.org/faq
I'm sorry, I forgot to change the date. Do the pictures all have to be taken in the same spot? When we go out to see and photograph the eagles, we make a big loop between IL and IA along the Mississippi River.
Very nice shots of this majestic bird! Are these all photographed on 8 March in the same place?
