American Peking

Description:

The Pekin or Peking, is an American breed of duck that is used mainly for meat. They are pretty much always white, but they vary in weight by gender. Male ducks weigh 4.5 kg (10 lbs) while females weigh 4.1 kg (9 lbs.) The Peking duck is large, with a rectangular body, a broad breast, a large round head, a thick neck, with a creamy white plumage. Their beaks can vary from a light orange, to a bright yellow, to greyish black. Ducks share parasitic relationships with various larvae and pupae, aquatic animals, small fish, and crabs because ducks feed off of them. Ducks reproduce sexually, as males and females mate, and the female lays eggs. Since ducks often live in ponds and lakes, it shares its habitat with aquatic plants and animals, as well as fish. The ducks have feathers so that it can float and fly, and webbed feet to help it swim.

Habitat:

The Peking duck originated in China, but is now bred in many countries, such as the US, Germany, and the UK. Peking ducks can be found worldwide, as demonstrated by the sighting in the Philippines. Ducks eat a variety of aquatic plant material and small aquatic animals. Ducks interact with other ducks by fighting for food, playing, swimming, or reproducing. Ducks have many predators, as they are very delicious. These predators include foxes, weasels, snakes, hawks, owls, eagles, turtles, and humans.
