A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
I have suggested that this is the emerald tree boa Corallus caninus rather than the green tree python Morelia viridis (the one I am holing in my PN avatar), the only two possibilities. These snakes are related but are from different parts of the world. They can look very similar but "generally" the emerald tree boa has "white zig-zags" while the green tree python has "flecks of white" which are not as conspicuous. http://scienceray.com/biology/zoology/je... Other web pages which compare these two beautiful species are http://myths-made-real.blogspot.com/2012... and http://snakebuddies.wordpress.com/2010/0...
Yes, indeed I do agree. Learning and helping each other achieve knowledge is the greatest gift that anyone could ever give. Thank you for helping S Frazier!!
Thanks. It sounds like a great project! Thanks we (inclusive) do have a fantastic community and resource here!
Hello S Frazier, unfortunately the zoo didn't have any wifi, however they all must post their pictures to this site by April 10th. Then if they wish to help each other identify they can and down the road during class we will take a little time and help each other identify, but you are most certainly welcome to identify and give any help to any pictures posted to show the students how we help each other on this wonderful site.
I was setting these up for the students to name S. Frazier, but it's okay. Most will all be named and identified Wednesday from the Toledo Zoo. The snake is in a glass aquarium. This boa is very beautiful isn't it.
Please describe the setting of your captive emerald tree boa spotting in "habitat". The name of the zoo, or where this is housed. Thanks
