Myrmecodia beccarii
A Myrmecophyte (ant-plant) but most accurately this is an ant-house plant. The southern form is virtually spineless while the northern form is very spiny except in old age. See http://myrmecodia.invisionzone.com/ for more information.
Melaleuca swamps often alongside and sometimes on mangroves. The first plant (spineless southern form) was photographed in the Hinchinbrook Channel swamps, North Queensland, Australia. The second plant (northern spiny form) was in Cairns Botanical Gardens, North Queensland, Australia.

Hi Derrick, welcome to Project Noah! Fascinating photos and info. You should split them into two separate spottings - one for each location. I notice your map pin is right in the middle of Queensland as well - when you create the new spotting for the Cairns plant, you can type in Cairns and it should come up for you.
