Blackberry

Rubus ursinus

Description:

These plants from which these flowers come from are representative of numerous ones that are short stemmed w/ prickles (thorns) on them. The flowers w/ petals usually bloom in late spring and are perennial. The reason for this is that they are growing in a cow pasture and are trampled on. Otherwise they would most likely grow into a tangle bush-like plant and be much taller.

Habitat:

Blackberry grows well in a variety of soil types and locations from dry, sandy upland areas to flat woods and stream banks. It is a common roadside and fence line plant.
