the plains garter snake can be found as far north as Canada and as far south as Texas it has a green and grayish skin with orange and yellow stripes that go from it's head to it's tail, it mainly lives near water, It is not poisonous and is found eating worms, bank swallows and in some spots salamanders. The plains garter snake also share it's land with another snake called the T. R.r.radix a subspecies to the plains
the plains garter snake lives mainly near water and river banks so that it can feed on worms and frogs. the garter snake will sometimes come out on warm winter days to bask in the sun but will mainly hibernate until april and may when mating season begins
this species is in commensilism with grass as the grass provides it cover and shade in the winter and the garter snake doesn't kill the grass The green scales on the back of the snakes body help it camouflage in the summer and it's ability to survive the extreme cold in the winter are perfect for Canada, this snake likes to mate in april and may and does so by finding a partner and having a gamete with him or her to create their babys.
