Description:

Small, unfriendly looking annual herb with bright green and red spines. There are magenta flower petals, filaments, and stigma, blue anthers, and a yellow throat/fauces. This plant was only 4 inches tall.

Habitat:

California sage scrubland, growing in between Buckwheat and Deervetch plants. This species is found along the Central and Southern California coast and into Baja California.
