A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Ephemera danica
Three 'tails'. Large wings with markings. Curved abdomen.
Clear stream (I cannot call it a River, as locals do) in Lower Slaughter. Village in the Cotswolds region. Hundreds had emerged and were all over the shrubs, our clothes (last photo), parked cars. I fished out one from the water but there were many dead ones floating on the water.
The adults do not feed but serve as food (for the birds and fishes) and are referred to as aerial plankton!
