Buko

Gnetum gnemon

Description:

This was an exceptional plant! It was growing sideways out of the ground, and it was a miracle that it was still standing. The bark was rough and had a green lichen growing off of it. The leaves were about 4 inches in length, and elliptical in shape. Long-tailed macaques were spotted nearby.

Habitat:

This was found in a secondary rainforest on a cloudy day in Singapore. It was given partial shade by medium-size trees above it.
