Grey Fox or Hybrid?

Description:

- Length of Grey Fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) range from 30-44" in length. (This one was on the high range.) - Fox weight: typically 8-15 lbs, though some larger males weigh as much as 20 lb. (This looked at least 20 lbs., maybe 30, which is why we wondered about it being a hybrid.) - It is also missing a fox's long fluffy tail...

Habitat:

Under some trees and underbrush. A block from the Atlantic coast line, in Corolla, NC, USA.

Notes:

Observed March 22 & 23, 2013 (8pm-11:45pm)

Great spotting! I don't know if it would be a hybrid though. You could add this to the Animals of NC mission
