Nice find! This caterpillar is often mistaken for an American Dagger Moth but if you look at the lashes (the long dark hairs) you will notice that there are only three and they are all along the midline and there is a stripe of darker hairs between the front two and the back one.

American Dagger Moth caterpillars have two pairs of dark lashes on the right and left "shoulder" area and then one on the rear. See here: http://bugguide.net/node/view/230016/bgi...
