Licuala Spinosa
This plant was about 15 feet tall. Growing off of it were about 20 spiny branches. The leaves grew out of a central point on the branches, and their width increased the farther away from the point they grew. The plant had adapted to grow thorns in order to keep predators away from it.
This was found in a secondary rainforest on a cloudy day in Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, in Singapore. Bukit Timah is a relatively untouched rainforest, with many tall trees that gave shade to this small one.
