Lichen

Usnea sp.

Description:

Green Lichen on tree branch. Possibly two species of lichen.

Habitat:

Observed in a County nature Preserve. The area was in a mixed pine/oak covered forested grounds. Oak was pushing the pine out due to no prescribe fire program for many years. Partial sun during the day.

The spiky (fruiticose) lichen is some species of Usnea. Next time I have my big book of lichen handy, I'll see if I can figure out more.
