Woodland wildflower found blooming in mid-spring. Orange to red in color. Found commonly on the slopes of the Loess Hills.

Habitat:

Deciduous woodlands dominated by oaks. Found on dry shoulder-slopes.

Notes:

Visited by bees and hummingbirds.
