Buteo jamaicensis
When it flew off I saw a lot of red in the wings

I have added the common and scientific names, Per Liam's suggestions and comments. These are very important pieces of information as they remove the spotting from the unidentified portion of our database. Thanks for adding it to the Raptor mission!
Swainson's should show longer primaries and will have a dark bit on the chest in all plumages. This is a very pale Red-tailed Hawk, probably a B.j. borealis subspecies. Albeit vague, the belly band is present, and most visible in the last photo.
Not 100% sure, but I think it may be a Swainson's Hawk? Anybody agree/disagree?
Perhaps a Swainson's Hawk, Buteo swainsoni. I'm not completely confident in that but it looks very similar to the light morph of the species.
