Snake track

Crotalus oreganus helleri

Description:

A wide and wavy line through soft dirt from a 4 foot long Southern Pacific Rattlesnake. I only know the species because one of my teen nature enthusiasts was hiking with me and spotted it. There's not a way to determine the sub species based on this track but the pattern and width tell you the size and movement pattern to help narrow down the list.

Habitat:

Goodan Ranch Sycamore Canyon Preserve across a dirt trail
