A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Sceloporus occidentalis bocourtii
The most common Fence Lizard in the central part of California. Pattern and colors vary. Mostly light to dark brown. Spiney texture to the scales. Blue bellies and long toes. During breeding season the feet of the males turn a yellowish color and do what looks like pushups to both attract a female and warn off other males.
Mostly found in dry areas. But can be found in other habitats
