Lavatera arborea
This erect tree-like perennial can be recognized by the petals with 5 darker veins and a dark base. When not in flower the absence of leaves and side shoots on the lower portion of the stem distinguishes this species from other species of Malva and Lavatera.
Grows in dry rocky places, usually near the sea but found also in the interior of the islands.
Maltese name: Hobbejza tas-Sigra
