Juvenile black snake with red belly and red eyes.
Found on forested road through swampy backwaters of Reelfoot Lake.
These snakes are habitat specialists and live in swampy areas where their main food occurs. They feed on amphiumas, sirens and occasionally other amphibians and fish. "As this is a sensitive species, and like all species, is worthy of our protection, the locality information has been altered to protect this organism."
