Dominican Ground Lizard

Ameiva fuscata

Description:

Endemic to Dominica, known locally as abolo. The coastal woodlands of Dominica have been noted as unusually favorable for reptiles, with a biomass among the highest recorded for terrestrial reptile populations.

Habitat:

dry, coastal forest

Notes:

The most common large reptile along the west coast. They are difficult to get close to though. I had to follow this one for a while before getting these shots.
